The Kids

I Just wanted to do a quick post to put these pictures up, they are from Nathans visit a couple weeks before Christmas (Christmas post to come). The pictures just turned out amazing and there are some of you that perhaps havent seen our girls in a while so.... here they are

Heres our little D, she'll be two in another week or so (Jan. 8)

I loved the way this one turned out on the original, her eyes are so crisp.

C has been taking Ballet lessons for a couple months and they had a 'parent viewing' night that Nate came along to and took these pictures.

I promise a Christmas post will come come as soon as we get things settled here after all the Christmas excitement.

Yes, it has been a while

I dont even know where to start... I will start at the end of last semester, which was my first semester of management, which I loved. So i started the summer with a job at a place called "Get Hitched" which installed truck receiver hitches and fifth wheel hitches, also all the wiring associated with towing trailers and boats and so forth. I really liked it there, i was learning some new skills but then I was offered a job with ATCO Pipelines (ATCO is the major natural gas provider in Alberta) I am just a summer worker doing maintenance ( mostly painting) of the pipelines. Every now and then the main gas pipelines come about ground at different control stations and compressor stations, and whenever the line is above ground it needs to be painted bright red with all the valves painted silver. Some of these havent been painted in a long time, so we drive around rural southern alberta and paint. I havent done too much work yet because of all the different training i need to go through (petroleum safety, WHMIS, first Aid, Transportation of dangerous goods, and an advanced drivers course) pretty much two weeks of courses. By the time I will be done all them I will only have 8 weeks of work left. Anyways the pay is good and I get to spend a lot of time outside in beautiful areas.

Becky has been spending a lot of time trying to bring our yard back from years of uncontrolled growth. It is looking really good this year, with lots of flower beds and a beautiful new patio. I dont know how she manages to keep the flower beds looking good, and the lawn mowed thats the size of a small soccer field, ALL while keeping the kids from running off down the street. We have put in a patio and I just finished making an outdoor table and benches so we can eat outside. We have really been busting our butts to get our place llooking as nice as we can for Magrath days, it hard work but its nice to reap the rewards of a nice yard. Still lots of indoor projects are keeping us busy but its mostly finishing up things we have already started.

Oh yeah, we went to Mexico for a week (Playa Del Carmen) with some of our good friends from Calgary. It was a week in heaven. We went to the ruins at Coba, snorkelled, and swam in underground caves. We wouldnt have to be coaxed very much to go back. I will go look for some pictures to post.

Heres Carley washing her shoe, wearing the Dress that Beckys parents brought her home from the Dominican Republic. Carley loves being outside and learning to ride her bike. We went camping and she loved it, especially playing in the sand at the Lake.

This is Danika at the Lake where we went camping. She is very mobile these days and very inquisitive. Shes not like Carley was, she is very brave. She is starting to talk but not to many words yet.

Heres Dani with a dirty, but very adorable, face

This is our new patio set that I built from the wood I used to build a gigantic picnic table I built a couple years ago. It is almost an exact replica of a set I saw online that sold for just under $7000, this one cost me around $30 in hardware.

Me and Bec on the beach at Playa Del Carmen. A very beautiful beach but a little rocky, I guess there was a hurricane about 5 years ago that kinda wrecked it a little.

Here are the latest pictures as of November 6th at 10:53 pm. Things are starting to come together and it seems the end may be in sight. Here are some pics:

This is the new ceiling we put and also the new light fixture. The tiles were really cool as the are just a really thin piece of Styrofoam with the design stamped into it. Its really easy to put up, just some ceramic tile adhesive on the back and pop it up. The only hard part is keeping the lines straight.

The cabinets and some of the countertop on the west wall, a space for the stove ...

the cabinets on the east wall...

West wall again.

The new sink with our swanky new faucet, also Carley being cute.

So we still have a lot of work to go but at least its starting to look more like a kitchen and less like a bomb shelter and a third world country.

Most current Reno pic

This is looking into the kitchen through the wall we opened up.

Here we are looking from inside the kitchen into the dining room (through the removed wall).

Hopefully more pics to come, because that means there will be progress to show.

Our Kitchen Reno

Ok, so its time that we posted some pictures of the fun Ive been having in the kitchen. So here we go:

This is a picture of the cabinets around the kitchen sink ( the East wall, use the window as a reference point for future pictures)

Partially demolished, we upgraded the window.

Fully demolished new wiring, new rough plumbing, isulated (there was none before) and ready for drywall.

This isnt a great picture, the wall of concern is the one to the left with the little window opening. Use the white door for reference.

We removed the wall, which was load bearing, and was an old exterior wall for the house that had an addition built on to it. This means that under the drywall of this wall was 1" of stucco, which made the opening up of the wall very very difficult and pain-in-the-butt-ish. But, we got it open and supported.

Look at Dani Go!

So we are doing well, we sold our first house and the lot together as a package so we are pretty excited about that. Other than that Im just working and Becky is trying to keep up with the kids.
